Are you interested in becoming an ESL teacher?

1. UBC has a deparment that offers a certificate or diploma in English as a Second Language teaching, the Language and Literacy Education Department (LLED). This can be taken while you are completing your degree in speech science or linguistics here at UBC. Is English your second language?

UBC offers: Academic English Support Program for students who speak English as an additional language:
http://cstudies.ubc.ca/aes/index.html

There is also an excellent language school on campus which is not part of UBC's academic programming. It is a non-credit skills oreinted programme through Continuing Studies. This is not building towards a degree. The English Language Institute (ELI)offers courses and programmes on a pay for service basis.

In addition, there are many excellent ESL programmes throughout the lower mainland.
