Tutoring

Discover tutoring opportunities available to undergraduate students in the Department of Linguistics.

Tutoring

The Department of Linguistics offers two types of tutoring services to undergraduate students: Graduate students and peer tutors from the Speech and Linguistics Student Association (SALSA).

Graduate Students

Graduate students in the Department of Linguistics offer tutoring services for an hourly fee. If you are seeking tutoring in a Linguistics course, please contact Alex Ayala, the Tutoring Coordinator. Graduate students will be notified that you are seeking a tutor in that course. If a graduate student is available, the two of you will be put in touch via email. As this is a volunteer program, we are unable to guarantee that a tutor will be available.

SALSA Peer Tutors

SALSA holds free weekly peer tutoring sessions for all SALSA Members. If you are not a member, you can purchase a membership for $5 at one of the sessions. Peer tutors will generally cover course materials from LING 100, 200, 201, 300, and 311, and STAT 203. Each tutor has earned an A grade in the target course and will be able to guide you through each concept. Schedules vary from term to term, so it’s best to check with SALSA directly about the current term’s offerings.
